This is Finnish author Tove Jansson (at right in the top photo), the creator of the Moomin books, with her partner Tuulikki Pietilä, known as Tooti.
Tooti and Tove owned the little cabin behind them, on the isolated island of Klovharun, in the Pellinki archipelago. Since Tove had spent her childhood summers in the archipelago, she always dreamed of owning an island, where she wanted to be a lighthouse keeper. As an adult, she and Tooti spent almost 30 summers in their cabin on Klovharun.
If you want to learn more about Tove and Tooti, you can check out our latest podcast episode (in which, we admit, we do mistakenly refer to the Pellinki islands as Helsingfors, which was an old name of nearby Helsinki)
Also if you love Tove and Moomins, please help us name our very own Moomin!
